The Food Post

Saturday I was able to work with 21 people from Iceland who spoke a little English.
That was quite an experience in itself!

Here are some of the pictures of what we made

Our appetizer was fritto misto, or a mixture of fried foods.
These were the things we fried.

Zucchini

Roman style broccoli

Potatoes

Mushrooms

Eggplant

Zucchini flowers

Which look like this first

They are on the top of a zucchini and don't have very much flavor, but add color and something different to a dish.

We also made fresh cavatelli with a tomato basil sauce.
I only got a picture of the pasta while we were making it, because he plated the pasta while I was frying everything in site.

We also made my favorite dish, straccetti.
It's thinly sliced sirloin and it's amazing.

We mix it with tomatoes and arugula!

And of course, there was tiramisu!
We do make other desserts, I promise.
I think I just never take pictures!

In case you're wondering if chefs/cooks ever get sick of food, the answer is yes.
This is what I ate(and drank) while they were eating the above foods:
Much better than cavatelli and tomato sauce for the zillionth time!

So I had a new roommate move in!
She's from the University of Alabama and loves cooking as well!
So we made some fresh cavatelli with zucchini flowers and shrimps and sautéed some baby artichokes for a side dish.

It was so good!

Well I'm off in the morning to head to Madrid to see my friend that I met while waiting in line for the Good Friday mass!
I am so excited to see her and explore Madrid!

Adios :)
